Below is a list of what one might expect to find as you stroll around the grounds of the Motel and the Pioneertown area or take the short walk around the Hiking Trail. Please report any sightings of species not on the list. Of course, at certain times of the year more migrants will be observed.
Most Common and Regularly seen: Cactus Wren, Common Raven, Verdin, Silky Flycatcher (Phainopepla), House Sparrow, European Starlings, House Finch, Red-Shaft Flicker Woodpeckers, Northern Mockingbirds, Hummingbird, Anna's Hummingbird, Mourning Dove, Great Roadrunner, Flycatchers(Say's Phoebe) (Black Phoebe), and our wonderful families of Gambel's Quail.
We'll be posting the other birds you'll discover here in the coming months with photos!
January 2007...
 We had an unusual winter snow this year, beautiful flakes drifted down like lace, and then by the end of the day it was all gone!
A gorgeous Scott's Oriole landed on the green cactus and provided a lovely spot of yellow in the white snow!
December 2006...
